But God Says

God's Word says Live by His word! And His word will NOT return to Him Void!

We all know the economy is down and the employment rate is dropping. And we continue to be reminded of it by everything we see and hear. Advertisments remind us that “saving minutes saves money” and that selling your gold jewelry will help with your gas bill. The news is telling us to hold on, to save and that if you have a job you are one of few lucky Americans.

But as followers of God, we don’t live by the so-called wise words of the world. We don’t live for a paycheck or some extra bread or by a growing savings account.

It seems so easy to hold on right now, to give in to the world’s idea of just getting by, to believe that this is not the time for new business or higher mortgage or moving to a larger church building. But God’s word says “Man shall not live on bread alone, but on every word that proceeds out of the mouth of God.” (Mt. 4:4 NASB) God’s word says live by God’s word!

“For as the rain comes down, and the snow from heaven, and do not return there, but water the earth, and make it bring forth and bud, that it may give seed to the sower and bread to the eater, so shall My word be that goes forth from My mouth; it shall not return to Me void, but it shall accomplish what I please, and it shall prosper in the thing for which I sent it.” (Isaiah 55:10-11 NKJV)

God placed us in the middle of the Triad of North Carolina. Why? God made us as people who dream big. Why? God made us people of families. Why?

Because the Triad needs people who have answers, people who have God-given dreams for the Triad, people who love people and live as one corporate body. The Triad needs the church.

Two hundred years ago, when Greensboro was established, strongholds were put in place. God has spoken His word over Greensboro but still these strongholds persist. What we must realize is that just because God says something doesn’t mean He will make it happen instantly. It means that when God’s people accept His word and step into it fully and prayerfully, that it will be accomplished in His timing. It means there is grace. God’s word will not return to him void,  so two hundred years later Greensboro is still held down by racism, poverty, sexual immorality and religion. God says that Greensboro is a place of unity, prosperity, purity, and relationship. If God says it, then why don’t we see it when we go to the grocery store and the movies and while driving down Market Street? Because the seed of  God’s word will not sprout until it is planted and watered. God’s word has been spoken, but there is not soil or water yet. It is not time.

“Heaven and earth will pass away, but my words will never pass away.” (Mt. 24:35 NIV)

God will wait. He will allow His word to sit dormant for years and years, until it produces that which it was intended to.

The church is God’s provision for the city, so we do not ask God to bless what we are doing, but God will bless what He is doing through us.

Greensboro will remain divided by racism, poverty, sexual immorality and religion until God is given entrance, until we allow His word to be fulfilled in full. God’s word will not return to Him void, but it will return to Him once it has accomplished all it is meant to.

People are full of seeds, but when there’s no water the seeds remain dormant. God has placed dreams in us, dreams that need nourishment, and we say that we will not live by the world’s advice on our God-given dreams. We will not rely on a steady paycheck or a larger savings account, but by God’s own words, whatever they may be.

God- we thank you for your ability to communicate to your children. Let your words water the dreams that you have spoken over your children.

The word of God will go out from His house, into the city.

So we prophesy, we declare what God is saying, over our city. We live where God is and in what He is saying about us, about the Triad.

We don’t live in circumstance. We don’t wait for our circumstance to change. We live in what God says, and circumstance will change because of how we live!
