Creating an atmosphere
An atmosphere is created when people respond to a spiritual influence.
The influence can be from God or our enemy, the devil. People agree with the influence and give voice to it. This moves things from the spiritual realm to the natural. Agreement with a spiritual influence gives it entrance into our world.
By giving voice to God’s Word, we facilitate the establishment of His purposes in the earth. It’s the same with the devil’s plan of darkness for our lives. By giving voice to his words, we enable him to gain entrance into our world and secure his purposes.
The devil can’t make us do anything but he’ll put pressure on us until we feel like we don’t have a choice. God on the other hand, is gentler and quieter. We are responsible for how we respond to these influences. We can agree or reject. It’s a decision, a choice.
Our region has a prevailing spiritual climate of religion (outward behavior without inward relationship), racism, poverty and sexual immorality. As the Church, we have the calling, authority and power to change climates. As Christians, we are carriers of God’s presence. His presence and power enables us to carry God’s love to a lost and unstable world.
