Limiting the Unlimited

It was so great to have Jurgen Matthesius as our guest a few weeks ago. Here’s a recap of what he spoke about.

Psalm 78 talks about how the Israelites limited God’s work and power in their lives. Unfortunately, we can do the same today and limit God’s blessing and provision in our lives.

We limit God in the area of what we see. Remember, the twelve spies who went to check out the land of Canaan. Some saw opportunity and blessing while others saw crisis and hopelessness. We need to see our situation as God sees it. See God’s power instead of our dilemma. If we don’t see it, we don’t achieve it. If we don’t achieve it, it’s because we never saw it.

We limit God in the area of our heart. The frustration and hurt of past experiences can significantly alter the way we navigate through life. These wounds can determine our future instead of God’s plans for us. It doesn’t have to be this way. The best medicine is to consistently and repeatedly put God’s Word into our heart. His Word of love, encouragement and hope will heal. This is important because what’s in our heart becomes our future.

We limit God by our words. Ten spies talked about the hopelessness of the situation and that came true for them. Two spies spoke of what they would achieve through God and that became fact. We can change our future by changing our words. A significant purpose of speech is for creation. We create our future by our words. Take note that our spouse and children are a product of our words. Just like Goliath, the Enemy will speak words of negativity to us. Like Jesus, we must respond with God’s word. God’s word in our mouth is as powerful as God speaking.

Let’s not limit the Unlimited and instead allow Him to accomplish the great destiny He has for us.
