Remember God’s promises

In Numbers 13:2, God told Moses to send spies to explore the land of Canaan. God specifically said this was the land that He was giving to them. So, twelve guys went to check it out. It was incredible- beautiful and flourishing, a place where anyone would want to live. The only problem was these big, strong dudes living there who had no intention of leaving.

Ten of the spies called it like it was saying they were grasshoppers compared to these giants. Those beasts would crush the Israelites without breaking a sweat. On the other hand, two of the spies remembered God’s promise that He would give them this land.  They said, “Let’s do this! We can take them!” Unfortunately, the people listened to the wimpy ten instead of the courageous two. Those people never ended up seeing that amazing place. Of course, the brave Joshua and Caleb did.

Today, we hear reports like the ten gave all the time. We get an earful about the economy, natural disasters, terrorism, diseases etc. Let’s purpose to be like Joshua and Caleb. Keep remembering God’s promises. Yes, we seem like grasshoppers in the face of the giants. But, we’re not alone. God is with us. He has already told us that He will take care of us, provide for us and protect us. Keep your eyes focused not on the giant’s threats but on God’s promises. Then He can lead you into the amazing things He has in store for you.
