We Moved!

.

Change was on our minds this week as we officially (and finally!) moved from one extreme to another- a very low-traffic to a very high-traffic address. It’s been a great journey and it’s not over by a long shot.

We keep in mind that sometimes what we are used to will prohibit us from moving forward, that right now everything is new and we are moving at a faster pace than possible without God. We have been blessed with a plethora of firsts, but this plethora will soon run out. The gigantic ceilings, brand new hardwood stage and unstained carpet will all soon become commonplace. So we remember that this is always the House of God, as long as we invite God into it, and that God is always changing things, whether we choose to notice or not. We remember that God doesn’t require shiny new things, only for our hearts to create space for Him. And it’s in this space that God is able to reveal His ways to us.

We are able to ask and receive only when we give God space. As Jesus quotes during his temptation, “Man shall not live on bread alone, but on every word that proceeds out of the mouth of God” (Mt. 4:4 NASB). So we ask God to speak so that we may live on His every word. We know that God is the answer that the world seeks, the answer that God Himself gives us in reply: live on my word. People will ask for harvest, but God says to live on His word, not on His harvest. So we cultivate relationship, we open up some space, and we listen.
Things have changed at C3 Greensboro, and things will continue to do so. But our heart for God does not shift. Our call does not shift. We remain committed to God, as He remains committed to us. We have made the decision to commit, but more importantly we know that this commitment requires the continuous availability of our hearts, so we continuously make our hearts available for God to change us, individually and corporately.

To repeat a great sentence- we have been blessed with a plethora of firsts, but this plethora will soon run out. So we remain captivated not by the harvest, but by our I-am-new-every-day God, and we will continue to see His glory come to life before us day after day.
